Golf at Lake Oconee

Tucked away in the natural beauty of towering oaks, fragrant magnolias, flowering dogwoods native to Greene County, Ga. and the languid waters of Lake Oconee – there are 99 holes of golf designed by the game’s best known architects, Rees Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio and Bob Cupp.

With five signature world-class courses, Top 100 Instructor Charlie King available for a lesson at the Reynolds Golf Academy, and the Kingdom, where the MATT (Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade) System is available for club-fitting and where PGA professionals hone their games, Lake Oconee respectfully boasts an incomparable caliber of golf.

The Landing Course
A design masterpiece of Bob Cupp, The Landing was the first golf course built on Lake Oconee and acquired by Reynolds Plantation in 2005. This Scottish-style championship course was built on hilly terrain with water features coming into play on three holes.

The rough is composed of a heather-type grass and numerous mounds and grassy hollows provide for an even greater challenge.

The Plantation Course
Using only the rolling Appalachian Mountain foothills as a canvas, Bob Cupp, along with Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller, designed the Plantation Course.

Featuring wide fairways and careful bunker placement, the Plantation Course provides golfers a more relaxing — and forgiving — layout that can be enjoyed by golfers of all experience levels.

The National Course
Tom Fazio's masterpiece, the 27-hole Reynolds National Course, plays long and narrow through the towering pines and flowering dogwoods that are native to middle Georgia. With more than 100 bunkers, several holes tucked along the shores of Lake Oconee and large undulating greens, the National Course gives players little room for error.

Fazio uses the natural beauty of the land in conjunction with his expert eye for a challenging layout to create a true work of art.

The Oconee Course
The Oconee Course, the Rees Jones-designed resort course, presents a golfing challenge unmatched by any other in the nation. Described by many as a mind-game golf, the new Jones addition to the Reynolds Plantation landscape is designed to be a true risk/reward challenge — often forcing golfers to choose between direct tee shots over inlets of Lake Oconee and long drives down tree-lined dog-leg fairways.

Noted for its spectacular par threes — featuring multiple tee boxes, drop shots from elevated tees and numerous water hazards — the course offers five holes in which Lake Oconee comes directly into play and four others tendering magnificent lake views. Though the interior creeks and ponds and the expansive vistas of Lake Oconee provide spectacular scenery for Oconee Course golfers, they also ensure an unrivaled challenge for players of all experience levels.

Great Waters Course
Great Waters, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-signature design, winds through densely wooded evergreen corridors only to open up to nine holes featuring the blue waters of Lake Oconee as the rough.

Named as one of the best courses in Georgia, second only to Augusta National, Great Waters proves to be one of the most aesthetically inspiring golf courses in the continental United States.
